Parish Choirs

St. Barbara's Choirs

Our Church has two choirs and is always inviting new members to sing at either our 6 p.m. Saturday or 8 a.m. Sunday Masses.

  • 6 p.m. Mass Choir practices on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. and the youth of our parish are welcome as well as our adults.

  • 8 a.m. Mass is an Adult Choir. Practices times are on Fridays at 4:30 p.m.  In addition we sing from Octavos’ which is sheet music.

In addition, St. Barbara's offers a Christmas program for the children. We either have a Christmas play or sing Christmas songs on Christmas Eve prior to the Mass.

We do provide a Funeral Choir that sings at all funerals as people do their ministry.  Every year we sing at the Ecumenical Advent Concert and Spring Eucmenical Concert as a combined choir.

If you have a talent you would like to share with us, your voice or playing an instrument, we would welcome that to add to our music ministry.

We look forward to anyone who would like to join one of the two choirs we provide at St. Barbara's.  If you have any questions contact Maureen Zanoni at msm@norwaymi.com or call (906) 563-9845.

St. Mary's Choirs

Our music program can always use new members.  You are most welcome to join one of our choirs.

The Adult Choir practices on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30.  With busy schedules for all, we do not expect our singers to make it every week.  Practices are designed so that all can successfully learn new music.  This choir has the summer months off.

Our Youth Choir practices on Wednesday evenings from 5:15 to 6:00 P.M.  and a half hour before the Mass at which they sing. They sing approximately twice a month; always on Christmas Eve at the 4:00 Mass, for First Communion, and Palm Sunday.  Parishioners have named them “The Angel Voices,” and they represent our parish at the Spring Ecumenical Concert.  Children from first through eighth grade take part.  High school students are most welcome in the Youth or Adult Choir.

The Funeral Choir sings at all funerals and provides our parishioners with this important ministry.  If a work schedule would allow you to take part on Saturdays only, you would be very helpful to us.

If you play a musical instrument such as guitar, flute, etc. we would love to have you accompany with the clavinova or pipe organ.
